This is completely normal.
Bear mattresses are designed specifically for direct-to-home delivery and may feel different from mattresses you have tested previously in retail stores.
Mattress comfort is highly subjective, and the feel of a mattress can vary significantly depending on your body type, sleep habits, previous mattress, and home setup.
Comfort can also vary based on:
• Your previous mattress
• Sleep position
• Body weight
• Room temperature
• Foundation type
• How long you have slept on your previous mattress
• Mattress break-in and adjustment period
Many customers transition to Bear after sleeping on an older mattress that may have softened, sagged, or developed body impressions over time.
Because of this, a new mattress with proper support can initially feel:
• Firmer than expected
• More supportive
• Different around pressure points
• Less broken-in than an older mattress
Additionally, mattresses displayed in retail environments are often softened over time from repeated customer testing.
Bear mattresses are also made to order, meaning your mattress is freshly manufactured specifically for your order rather than sitting compressed in storage for extended periods.
Because the mattress materials are brand new, the foam layers and support materials naturally need time to loosen, relax, and fully break in with regular use.
As the mattress adjusts, the cells within the foam gradually open and soften slightly over time, allowing the mattress to reach its intended long-term feel and responsiveness.
Your new mattress at home is brand new and may need time to fully break in.
Please Note
• Most customers experience an adjustment period while their body adapts to the new mattress
• Foam layers naturally soften slightly with regular use
• Your body may need time to adjust to improved spinal alignment and support
• Adjustment periods are especially common when replacing older mattresses
• Most customers fully adjust within approximately 30-45 nights
This adjustment period is one of the reasons Bear asks customers to try their mattress for at least 30 nights before initiating a return or exchange request.
We generally recommend giving your new mattress time to fully expand, break in, and adjust to your sleep habits before making comfort comparisons or final decisions.
